CLA South West: Access Surgery

With spring in the air and lockdown measures easing, there continues to be significant focus on access issues in the British countryside and it has been an increasingly contentious issue for both landowners and users over the last twelve months.
The increase in people using the countryside and their lack of knowledge of the Countryside Code is causing many landowners and farmers serious challenges over trespass, damage to crops, potentially dangerous livestock situations and a range of other issues.
As lockdown begins to ease join Regional Director South West, Ann Maidment as she interviews CLA National Access Adviser, Sophie Dwerryhouse. This interactive event will cover some of the questions on access that are most frequently posed by our membership after which there will be a chance to ask any questions of your own that have not been covered in the initial discussion. This event is aimed at any CLA member with public rights of way across their land and will help you understand both your rights and responsibilities.
The discussion will include:
• Definitive map modification orders
• Section 31(6) landowner deposits
• Public path orders
• Landowner responsibilities in terms of maintenance

The event will not be recorded and is an open platform for you to talk about your access issues.
