CLA East- Natural Capital: Investing in the Environment

Natural capital is a concept that applies economic thinking to the use of natural resources and the environment.

This seminar will bring together industry leaders who will consider the challenges of land use and conservation from an economic perspective and look at how it is possible to set out a strong financial case for investing in the natural environment.

The definition of natural capital extends to all those elements of nature that provide value (directly and indirectly) to people. It consists of different assets such as woods, soils, rivers, land, minerals and oceans.

This event will include an optional tour of a natural flood management scheme in Finchingfield which has seen the reintroduction of beavers into a fenced woodland area. The beavers are being given the opportunity to alter their environment by building dams, flooding areas, cleaning water and trapping silt.
