Seminar sessions will include:
Being a trustee: A case study “I’m a Trustee – get me out of here!” will highlight good practice and some of the dilemmas trustees of a family estate face when dealing with difficulties. What makes a good trustee? What happens when there are fall-outs?
Getting the business structures right: Land-based businesses can be run through a range of structures, from sole trader to limited companies. This sessions looks at why one model may be better suited than another to a particular venture and explores the rights and roles of directors, shareholders and partners.
Planning for development, diversification and restructuring: In this session we consider some of the tax considerations to be managed as farming estates look to develop land, diversify activities and restructure in order to survive and thrive. Capital tax reliefs still have a crucial part to play and ‘Balfour’ still matters!
A buffet lunch will be held following the seminar.
