The CLA breakfast at this year’s Surrey County Show will focus on rural crime, with a talk from Gavin Stephens, Temporary Chief Constable of Surrey Police.
Rural crime is a considerable blight on the lives of many in the county – but the CLA and Surrey Police are working hard to tackle the many issues and make a difference. All crime can have a serious impact on its victims, and is a burden on rural communities with both economic and social impacts.
The CLA recently published a ‘rural crime document’, as part of our ongoing efforts to focus attention on the issue. The document is based on an analysis of how different police forces tackle rural crime across England and Wales, with the aim of promoting best practice and sharing ways of working. Surrey Police is already doing many positive things when it comes to fighting rural crime, and T/CC Stephens will be updating members on its latest projects and initiatives.
