Soulton Hall is an ancient manor house situated in Wem, Shropshire. It has been in the Ashton family for over 350 years. Tim Ashton takes a sustainable approach to operating the farm and business projects which include ground source heating, solar power and no-till farm practices.
The farm currently has a research project looking at the results of cultivation on soil ecology with Harper Adams University and the University of Oxford. In addition Soulton Hall is home to Shropshire’s first long barrow in over 5,000 years.
The afternoon will begin with the AGM meeting in the Moot Hall after which Tim Ashton will introduce his farm and business and we will be given a short walking tour of the no-till crops and Soulton Long Barrow. The evening concludes with a drinks reception and canapés served outside on the croquet lawn (weather permitting).
