CLA East - Woodland Management

An effective guide to Woodland Management

Join the CLA and a team of experts at Lockhart Garratt, one of England’s leading environmental and ecological planning and forestry consultancies, as we take a walk through the woodland at the historic Buckminster Estate, home to the Tollemache family.

This event will include an introduction from the Estate Manager followed by a visit to the biomass boiler and a walking tour. You will be given expert advice on woodland management covering oak silviculture, poplar felling and markets, ash dieback and new roadside safety guidance. Maintenance to woodland and biodiversity will also be covered during the afternoon.

The woodland at Buckminster Estate ranges from semi-natural through to modern day plantations, with avenues of trees and carefully located vistas to create an aesthetically pleasing country landscape. The woodland is managed for commercial crops, sporting purposes and works specifically designed to enhance the amenity value.

The Estate has recently completed a 20-year woodland management plan through the English Woodland Grant Scheme to ensure the woods are managed appropriately for years to come.  If you are involved in farm or estate woodland management or just have an interest in the subject this event will be an insightful afternoon.
